What Does It Cost?

A hand picking an apple representing honesty and integrity from the beginning

Have you ever asked the price of a meal in a restaurant and been told that the final price will depend on how long it takes the cook staff to prepare the meal?  Me neither!  Before you order the meal, you know exactly what it will cost and the price won’t change as long as you don’t change your order.  This is called a flat rate and, except for legal services, most of the economy runs on flat rates.

Much of the work we do can be done by using flat rates.

Here’s how flat rate legal services work at this firm

  • We discuss your legal situation and what we can do to help;
  • We agree on a scope of work and schedule;
  • I propose a flat rate fee to complete the scope of work;
  • If you accept my offer, you pay the flat rate fee and we get to work.

Here’s an important point - the flat rate fee won’t change unless the scope of work changes.

Disclaimer (every attorney needs at least one): There are some matters that don’t handle the flat rate concept well.  For example, while I can put together a scope of work and flat rate fee for complicated litigation, I may also have to tell you that the scope of work will likely change as will the flat rate fee.

Call me and let’s talk about your business law situation.  A flat rate fee arrangement might work for you – if it doesn’t, our hourly rates are also reasonable.
